Our History...
Soldiers’ Memorial chapel is the successor to all the Chapels of Fort Benjamin Harrison for the past 100 years as well as the only Soldiers’ Memorial structure ever erected within Historic Fort Benjamin Harrison.
When the Fort closed in 1996 the members went many directions, but a faithful and hearty nucleus persevered for two years with interim pastors. The congregation has grown steadily since then under Rev. James McKinney, a proud veteran himself. In 2011 Dr. Charles McDaniel became the Senior Pastor. He seeks to continue the legacy of a dynamic and joyous fellowship. We are a multi-cultural, multi-racial, multi-ethnic and multigenarational Christian fellowship.
As a retired Army Chaplain with extensive civilian ministry Dr. McDaniel is committed to lead the church in ministry to our community. We will develop a strong sense of family. We will also seek to honor and encorage, our military and civilian paramilitary service members and their families.
